Kathryn Grayson passed away, at her home, on Febuary 17, 2010. She was 88 years old. I've been trying to come up with a proper tribute to her, but I can't seem to believe that this isn't happening on some parallel universe, and I'm just watching what might happen, if she died. The massive outpouring of grief from fans all over the world is just... it's amazing, to me. I'm so glad to see that Kathryn was so very loved by so many people. Even the people who have admitted to not liking her style have tipped their hats to her just because they know how great she was, and what an impact she and her works made.

The Kathryn I knew was a classy lady, in a time where it has become too common for people to make a quick buck selling tell all memoirs. She was committed to a truth no one wants to hear- that the past wasn't always racy. Not everyone had secrets, and some of the "secrets" even TCM has sold out to have no basis in truth. She had a genuine warmth, an infectious smile, and maybe a little bit of sass. :) I can honestly say that she was the kindest human being I have ever known.

I suppose that the only fitting tribute I can come up with is this whole website, and the many many many years to come, that it will operate. Kathryn graced us all with her immense talent, and her memory will live on through the miles of film, the numerous recordings, and the joy we all get from knowing what a great lady she was.

I'll close with one of my favorite pictures, of Cole Porter, Kathryn, and Ann Miller, who I only hope are putting together a great big musical in the sky.

In other news, I apologize if you noticed any downtime, after the initial update. I had everything moved to a new host, so that shouldn't be a problem anymore. Word to the wise- if you ever decide to start a website, do NOT use iPower or any of its affiliate companies, for your host. When I tried to call to see what the issue was (this time), the tech support guy pretended he couldn't hear me, told me to get a phone that worked, and hung up on me. It's off to HostGator (OMG Tech Support IN THE US? WHO KNEW THAT EXISTED ANYMORE?!), with the hope of seeing brighter days.

Lastly, I'm still NOT Kathryn Grayson. Just Kayla. Website girl. Fanbaby. Collector of pictures.

As I'm sure you've noticed by now, KGFan.com has gotten a bit of a makeover. I'm also working on the gallery, to hopefully get the site to the 99% completed mode. That way, all I'll have to do, from now on, is add new Pretty Kathryn Things. After seven years, it's about time I get this place up to speed, haha.
